Case Study 1

  • Client: A major e-commerce retailer in pet care industry.
  • Problem: Client needed temporary support to maintain regression testing.
  • Solution: Uncovered 50 defects through dedicated regression testing.
  • Tools: Jira, TestRail, iPhone/Android device, Xcode, Android Studio, Chrome Devtools.
  • Results: Quality improved due to vast number of bugs found and enabled flawless products to customers.

Case Study 2

  • Client: A sportswear company.
  • Problem: End to End testing of the application.
  • Solution: Setup a plan to run complete end to end testing for the application. Started with requirement document/ visual spec review.
  • Requirements/visual spec queries/clarification was sent to client and got confirmation to proceed.
  • Prepared a test plan for test execution and mentioned project overview, objectives, in scope and out of scope requirements, testing strategy for functionality, test execution timeline, resources/stake holders, entry and exit criteria for testing, risks and mitigation, test deliverables(Test cases, test reports and defects) test device in scope and out of scope, web browsers in scope and out of scope, test environment details, defect management, staffing skills/training.
  • Asked my QA team to design the test cases in TestRail as per the visual specs provided and to write the scenarios based on the requirement documents and ensured test cases are optimized with no redundancy and ensuring all critical flows/functionalities are covered. Test cases uploaded in TestRail.
  • Started with test execution as per the schedule on the applicable test devices(iOS/Android/iPad) and web browsers(Chrome, Firefox) for both web and mobile application.
  • My Qa team started executing the test cases on TestRail on a daily basis. Defects were logged and managed in Jira.
  • Test execution & Defect Reports were shared with stake holders on a daily basis.
  • Test execution and defect retest was completed as per the schedule.
  • Testing sign off provided to the stake holders.
  • Ongoing Monthly Regression is planned for critical test suite.
  • Tools: Jira, TestRail, excel.
  • Results:
  • Complete end to end testing a new application was achieved comprehensively as per the project schedule.  Quality test cases were designed with good optimization techniques and ensuring no critical flows/functionalities are missed.
  • Extensive device level and web browsers were covered for the project ensuring compatibility across various devices on latest and previous OS versions.
  • Defects were logged ensuring all flows and functionalities work smoothly.
  • Test and defect reports shared for continuous tracking through out the project schedule.
  • Extensive monthly regression was asked by client for the continuous quality of the product.

Case Study 3

  • Client: A Financial company.
  • Problem: UI completely changed on the screens of iOS and Android apps impacting functionalities as well due to the implementation of React Native (it enables developers to create natively-rendered iOS and Android applications using a single codebase. )
  • Solution: Setup a plan for my QA team to perform complete detailed testing for the UI changes for the comps on Figma. Also, run testing for all functionalities to ensure nothing is broken due to the React Native framework implementation.
  • If there is no existing test case, add a new test case for the missing flow.
  • Revisit all existing test cases and update it as per the new UI changes and functionality changes if any.
  • Conducted review sessions to ensure the test cases are aligned as per the new UI changes.
  • All test cases were updated.
  • Testing execution was done for the implemented UI changes and lot of bugs discovered for UI mismatches and functionalities not working.
  • Test execution & Defect Reports were shared with stake holders on a daily basis.
  • Test execution and defect retest was completed as per the schedule.
  • Testing sign off provided to the stake holders.
  • Tools: Jira, TestRail, excel.
  • Results:
  • Complete end to end testing was done for the UI changes implemented and functionalities impacted as per the project schedule.
  • Defects were logged ensuring all UI changes are done as per the requirement/design and functionalities work smoothly.
  • Test and defect reports shared for continuous tracking through out the project schedule.

Case Study 4

  • Client: A Financial company.
  • Problem: Optimizing the regression test cases for effective monthly runs.
  • Solution: Setup a plan for my QA team to capture screens for each module and identify if there is an existing test case available in the current suite ensuring there is a test coverage for the critical flow and eliminate any redundant test cases.
  • If there is no existing test case, add a new test case for the missing flow.
  • If the test case is redundant, remove it. If the test case needs to be combined to avoid any repetition, merge the respective test cases.
  • Conducted internal review with my QA team and provided feedback on any other missing flows, and suggested single test case for steps that can be combined.
  • Conducted review sessions for around 10 modules with Dev & QA teams to ensure the identified test cases cover all the critical flows. Asked my QA team to update the test cases for any new additional critical flows identified during the review sessions and update the test suite accordingly and maintain a wiki.
  • All test cases were updated as per the optimization plan.
  • Tools: Jira, TestRail, excel.
  • Results:
  • Regression time reduced from four to three weeks.
  • Redundant test cases were eliminated, increasing efficiency.
